Global medical training program
A European-based company set up to focus on R&D in HIV therapies approached us to assist with clinical Investigator Meetings. As a result of emerging positive data, a large US-based company with no track record in the HIV arena, acquired the European company.
As the global commercialisation strategies were evolving and in view of the highly specialized nature of the therapeutic area, it became apparent that the US company staff involved with the project needed to be brought up to speed medically and commercially.
We were approached to design an internal HIV global training programme for research and commercial personnel. To ensure a balanced and up-to date overview of HIV in a rapidly changing field of research, emphasising the challenges both in terms of therapeutic effectiveness and patient management.
SWM worked with key opinion leaders to create a series of International Training Workshops which encompassed a thorough overview of the science behind the condition, current and potentially future therapeutic treatments and highlighted the unmet need. In addition there was an emphasis on the impact of the condition and treatment on patients.
One key element of the training was to allow patients to present their life stories and take questions from the audience. This aspect of the meeting was very well received.
