Slipping and sliding for charity – Mud Pack Challenge
On a rather wet October morning, a few plucky members of the SWM team forfeited a Sunday lie-in, threw on their gym gear and took on the 2015 MUD Pack Challenge. This involved running round the grounds of Ashridge House, a challenging 5 mile course with military style obstacles to tackle along the way! Members of the RAF also took part to ensure that we were giving it our all throughout the course!
Our 9-strong team, named ‘Mud Slide Slim’, didn’t quite anticipate the amount of mud and water that would be in the built-in obstacles on the length of the course. The team spent the morning together running, climbing 6 foot high walls, crawling under military style nets, leaping over hay bales and wading through skips of cold water. Not only this, every obstacle included a large amount of cold mud!
It certainly tested our endurance, motivation and more importantly our fitness! However the team had smiles (and mud) on their faces the entire time. After a great and tiring couple of mega muddy hours the SWM team in total raised £1270.81 in aid of The St. Francis Hospice, Berkhamsted.
Everyone who took part agreed it was a tough challenge, however were happy to take part for such a worthy cause. Some ‘Mud Slide Slim’ members are even considering signing up again for next year!
